Dare Day Festival

It’s one of the longest-running festivals in Manteo! The full-day event is held along the downtown waterfront and hosts an array of activities and attractions full of fun. Each one celebrates local Manteo culture. Throughout the day you’ll experience a number of events for water and OBX lovers of all ages, including the Hogway Speedway Racing Pigs, “Anything that Floats but a Boat” Race, and the Raingutter Regatta. Check out the Kids Zone, as well as the annual competitions for best cake and pie in all of Dare County.

The festival takes place 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Rock the Cape

Celebrate spring and the coming of summer to the Cape with food, music, art, and fun on your vacation to Cape Hatteras this June. The 12th annual event is free and family friendly. Take in events highlighting the visual and performing arts of Hatteras Island. Enjoy an art show, concerts, and gallery tour during the weekend of fun. Head to Kitty Hawk Kites’ Waves Village Watersports Resort at Milepost 40 in Rodanthe, and let the good times roll.

The event takes place June 6-7. Stop by on the 6th for a full afternoon of art, live music, and more. Stop by on the 7th and experience “Friday Arts on the Island” a “First Friday” tour of Hatteras Island art galleries.

Tri Villages Market

The summer season is getting underway in June, and that includes the area farmer’s market. Explore the market and its many artists’ and makers’ tent setups featuring clothing, art, baked goods, fresh produce, and more.

Head to the Camp Hatteras Campground located at 24798 NC Hwy 12. The event takes place Wednesdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., June 12-September 25, making it a great addition to your June event schedule.

Sunday Brunch with Live Music

Every Sunday throughout the summer you can head to Cafe Pamlico inside The Inn on Pamlico Sound in Buxton for delicious brunch fare and live music. Sip on mimosa flights.

Brunch is every Sunday, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. It is going on now through September 29, 2024. Call the cafe for reservations at 252-995-4500.

65th Annual Hatteras Marlin Club Blue Marlin Release Tournament

Enjoy fishing, food, fun, and fellow anglers. Start the tournament with a kick-off lunch cookout, stock up at the ship store and register on-site before the captain’s meeting. There will be a variety of activities outside of fishing, including yoga, kids’ events, and more. The week wraps up with grand finale and awards. Register your boat and crew or follow your favorite boat’s progress on the tournament website.

The event takes place June 23-29, 2024 starting at 7 a.m. daily.

Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station

The life-saving station in Rodanthe is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2024. It’s most well-known rescue was August 16, 1918, when the men at the station saved 42 of the crewmembers of the doomed British tanker SS Mirlo. The now-decommissioned station hosts rescue re-enactments, talks about the fateful day, special speakers covering topics like Hatteras Island and the Cold War, shipwrecks and lifesaving, and other topics. Tour Midgett House – where lifesavers and their families lived, and more.

Wind & Waves Sailing & Maritime Festival

On the heels of Rock the Cape, the festival features sailing, food, fun, and top-notch entertainment. Celebrate the “best wind and waves on the East Coast” with sailboat races, a seafood boil, maritime market, beach bonfire, and more.

The event takes place at the KOA Cape Hatteras in Rodanthe at their Soundside Event Lot, and the public is welcome. It takes place Friday, June 7- Sunday, June 9, with check-in and a welcome bonfire Friday night, a full slate of activities Saturday, and a wrap-up and awards ceremony Sunday afternoon.
