While not technically a picnic area, it’s home to the Seabreeze Trail, an elevated boardwalk that will take you through marshland and a maritime forest while keeping your feet dry.

The Bonner Bridge Pier Remnant
Don’t let the word remnant cause you fear, as the remains of the Bonner Bridge Pier is perfectly safe and actually stretch out over 1000 feet into the Oregon Inlet. Originally, the pier was once a bridge over which thousands of vehicles crossed daily until erosion made it unsafe, and parts of the bridge were demolished. A new bridge was eventually built, and the remnant of the original was found safe to be reopened as a pier.
Costing nothing and open 24 hours, it is a popular spot for anglers and sightseeing, and even though there are no picnic tables, picknickers as well. Just spread out a blanket off to the side and enjoy a meal with the water serving up serenity and the other pier explorers providing fun and company. No glass, no grills, no umbrellas, and everything you pack in, you must pack out and dispose of properly.
