Great News — Our Beach Is Open!
The first pass of the beach nourishment project has been completed in front of Lighthouse View, and the beach directly behind our property is currently open and available for our guests to enjoy!
The first phase brought a tremendous amount of much-needed sand to our shoreline, resulting in more than 250 feet of beautiful new beach in front of the property. We are thrilled with the results and excited for our guests to enjoy all of this additional beach space.
What does this mean for your stay?
While the first pass is complete, the beach nourishment project is not quite finished. A second pass is currently anticipated for mid to late August. When crews return to our area, there are still temporary impacts to be aware of. You may notice:
- Closed sections of beach, including the area directly behind the property
- Large construction equipment traveling along the shoreline
- Sand transfer pipes running along portions of the beach
- The possibility of a second pass as the project returns south
While the beach directly in front of Lighthouse View is temporarily closed, we encourage guests to use Lighthouse View as their home base and visit one of the several nearby public beach access points, all just a short drive away. We expect the closure at our property to be temporary and are optimistic that work in our area will be completed within the next few days.
For now, the beach is open, the new sand is here, and we are excited to welcome you to Lighthouse View! Hatteras Island has miles of beaches nearby to enjoy and we still have some of the best views of the ocean!
