Cape Hatteras Fishing

A Cape Hatteras vacation will be one filled with fun, relaxation, and a variety of outdoor adventures, and when you come home to Lighthouse View at the end of every day, it will also be the most comfortable of vacations. It’s fishing we want to talk about today, though, the hobby that has become a passion for participants even when no fish are caught. Hopefully, however, this guide to Cape Hatteras fishing will help you catch your limit, but even if it doesn’t, a day spent on the other end of a fishing pole is still better than any other day!

Surf Fishing

Surf fishing means to fish from the shore, and there is a lot of shoreline on which you can fish from on Cape Hatteras. This may be the most traditional type of fishing and as you plant one end of the pole in the sand and relax with a cold one you pulled from the cooler at your side, you may begin to fell there is nowhere else you want to be. We invite you to test your luck at the spots we have listed below.

Hatteras Inlet

Your visit to the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum could turn into a two-fer; the best spots for wetting your line at Hatteras Inlet can be easily reached by walking through its parking lot! Trout, flounder, and striped bass are an example of the fish you can catch from this spot.

Pamlico Sound

The serene setting of Pamlico Sound offers its own magic and as you sit on the shore at sunrise, watching the world come awake around you, the fish dangling from the business end of your line may be drum, flounder, and red drum.

Avon Fishing Pier

Perhaps the most popular fishing spot, and also the closest one to Lighthouse View, offering everything you need for a day of angling. This Hatteras fishing pier is famous for smashing fishing records, including the world record, when a 94-pound red drum that was caught nearby.

Catching the Trophy Fish

Of course, if you have always dreamed about catching a trophy fish, Longer Days Sportfishing Charters, located at 58646 North Carolina Highway 12, offers a large number of deep sea fishing excursions. Captain Randall takes his guests out to where the big fish swim and this vacation could be the one where you bring home a trophy marlin to hang on your wall.
